U.S. – Vatican Cooperation· February 01, 2010There are many ways that the Catholic Church works to cooperate with governments in humanitarian projects. These increase Rome’s profile and helps smooth the way for other levels of cooperation. Among other things, the U.S. is actively involved in AIDs prevention through cooperation with the Catholic Church. On December 1 Catholic New Agency reported that the new U.S. ambassador to
the Vatican, Dr. Miguel H. Diaz, U.S. said that the “cooperation of the United
States and the [Catholic] Church in the fight against AIDS [is] ‘one of the most relevant’ “Collaboration between the Holy See and the U.S. government extends beyond ‘fieldwork,’” he said, citing an international conference on Pediatric aids in November of 2009 where governments, NGOs and religious organization were encouraged to work together. “The ambassador added that the United States pledges ‘to continue working together with its world partners, among them the Holy See and the many organizations tied to it…” |
